Heart Song by Jambrea Jo Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I should have known that this story would be a tear jerker when the story began with a funeral. Rafe, a young police officer, had been in love with Charlie, an older business man who passed away. Charlie, though he cared for Rafe, had been emotionally unavailable, causing Rafe to walk away for the last time. Unfortunately, before Rafe could truly find closure, Charlie dies leaving Rafe with more questions than answers.
At the funeral, a young man catches Rafe's eye; he's kicking himself for finding himself attracted to someone at his former lover's funeral. Then he learns that Charlie had a son, Stewart, the man he'd been attracted to, and that Charlie left a note with Stewart for him.
This is a story of healing, closure and second chances. It will touch your heart and make you cry, but in that bittersweet way that often happens in life. I'm glad I Took the time to read this one.
